Post-Run Report: February 15, 2017

file-2-3

Thank goodness, I was able to get out there and make it happen and nothing bad happened! I started out easy for the first mile with a 10:34/mile pace and found no pain, so with each successive half-mile, I upped my pace. In the end, I was running 8:58/mile and ended with an average pace of 9:54/mile. I stuck to 3.2 miles because I didn’t want to go too far too soon, but it seems that the three day hiatus from running was what my knee needed to get better. I will run again on Friday and then not again until I am in Spain.

Ultimately, I’m super-excited to be back to running. I was nervous all day, not because I dislike running, but because I was afraid that I would begin running and find the pain persisted. I was pleasantly surprised to not experience any pain, and even as I ran harder and harder to raise the pace, my legs felt fine. Even afterward, they felt good. This morning (I’m writing this report the morning after the run), my legs have the “You ran yesterday” feeling which is to say that they don’t hurt. They feel good and strong.
